 Master ClassesEdu2

Improvisation Techniques:  Master Classes for string ensembles or soloists.

These fun master classes offer individual coaching in a group setting so that everyone benefits from the topics and techniques addressed in the session.  The goal is for each student to enjoy expressing their own creative statement on their instrument.  Classes are adapted to meet the needs and abilities of beginning, intermediate and advanced level players.

ClinicsEdu3

The Holistic String Player: Approaches to sight reading and articulating rhythms and idiomatic techniques found in jazz, pop, theatre and commercial music.

So, you’ve become a great classical musician and get hired to play for a theatre production, concert with a pop artist, or commercial studio jingle. You are immediately confronted with rhythms and articulations not included in the traditional classical repertoire. How do you sight read the music with confidence and be assured that you are placed on the “first call” list?  Be prepared for the wide array of opportunities now available to the professional string player.

Educator Clinics:  These clinics offers techniques in exploring improvisation you can use with your students for best confidence building results.  They are responsive to the educators teaching level(s).  Prior to the clinic, a questionnaire is sent to attendees to assure that your needs are met, and of course, interactive exchange of ideas and questions are always a part of every session.

Residencies

Today’s musical world offers the opportunity and often requires us to play many types of music.  Styles are blending, erasing genre barriers.  Diane presents college and high school residencies combining string quartets with rhythm sections, with coaching in ensemble playing, soloing, jazz articulations and reading rhythms not usually found in classical repertoire, and culminating in a performance. While in residency, she is also available for private studio coaching, string master classes, rhythm sight reading and music business sessions.

Informances

Diane’s Jazz Talk informances have been presented to hundreds of thousands of students in both urban and rural areas, through residencies as well as through community outreach in conjunction with her concerts.  The program is customized to the age group, from elementary school to seniors, as well as for special needs environments.  This participatory experience engages the musician in everyone, without the need for instruments!
